GPS
Link - delivering real-time passenger information systems
Above:
Destination Shuttle Services airport shuttle buses at LAX use
Omnivex Digital Signage Software and refer to the signage initiative
as Shuttle Smart.
Effectively communicate in real-time using intelligent
location based digital signage.
GPS Link, a new feature of Omnivex Moxie, enables you
to capture and engage with your audience by providing
information that is relevant to the passenger. GPSLink
also provides intelligent ways for transport sectors
to communicate in real-time.
GPS Link allows transport operators to connect with
their passengers in real-time with the display changing
according to the vehicle location. Upcoming stops and
points of interest can be displayed on screens while
even location based advertising can be shown. Meanwhile,
passengers waiting can be shown a map of where the vehicle
is, as well as the anticipated arrival time in minutes.
Omnivex GPS Link is a complete location-based management
and reporting system that integrates Omnivex Moxie for
use on digital signage networks. With the introduction
of Microsoft Windows 7, the operating system provides
native support for GPS sensors and data handling which
means that you can just plug-and-play your GPS devices.
Using Microsoft Silverlight and Bing Maps, GPS Link
provides you with the tools to design and manage routes,
map regions, points of interest and vehicles, from any
Web browser. GPS Link interprets data from a GPS device
connected to a vehicles on-board computer and this information
is used by Moxie. Depending on your Moxie configurations,
this data can trigger content changes and actions on
your display screens.
GPS Link works by sending GPS coordinates via a cellular
network to the Omnivex server in real-time indicating
the current location of the vehicle, shown on screens.
GPS Link is already fully functional at LAX in their
shuttle service called “Shuttle Smart” learn

Transport operators can not
only engage with their passengers in real-time and provide
them with feedback of the bus and the route and other
location based information on large digital screens, but
also the transport company can gather telemetry of the
vehicle at the same time using the CANbus system, which
is useful for fleet management.
GPS Link can also provide increased security measures
where instead of lengthy waits at the bus stop in the
dark, passengers can choose to go inside and wait in
the confines of a well lit building.
The digital signage network for transportation hubs
can be used to entertain and inform commuters with information
such as time, weather, latest news, promotions, location-based
advertising, transport timetables, updates and connecting
services.
GPS Link is highly modular and this flexibility makes
the system requirements accommodation easy.
